These two homes are designed to be self-built on a tight budget. The design is simple and cost effective to construct, as well as being highly energy efficient. They are located on an exception site, so planning is only granted on condition that they are sold as affordable housing, to local people in need of housing, at a discounted market rate. These conditions are tied to a Section 106, a legal document issued with planning permission. The houses have been designed to fit in with their rural context, where workshops are part of the vernacular.
